The fire on Sandsmere Road was reported at 5.36pm and is not yet under control.
District 17 duty officer Alfred Mason said this was one of three stubble fires Wimmera crews have responded to on Thursday, with other at Chetwynd south of Edenhope, and Massey between Warracknabeal and Donald.
"We generally get called to agricultural burns at this time of year because fire restrictions are lifted, so farms are not restricted in relation to what they are burning," he said.
"They are putting earth breaks in the paddock but every so often a willy willy will come through ad allow the flames to jump the line."
Across the afternoon, more than a dozen brigades were called to the fires. the Massey fire was declared under control as of 4.20pm, and the Chetwynd one at 5.25pm.
