Horsham CFA will participate in a virtual tin shake for the Good Friday Appeal this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic preventing door-to-door, fire truck and intersection donation collections.

Horsham CFA commander Andrew McCartney said it was important for the community to still get involved online by donating to the virtual tin for Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital.
"There are local families and brigades that have been involved in the Good Friday Appeal for many years, so they will miss that connection and that direct contact with the public," he said.
"Considering the circumstances it is important that we participate virtually... I am sure we will be back strong for next year."
Good Friday Appeal executive director Anne Randall said despite having to cancel public fundraising events, the appeal had been inundated with offers of support and would continue to fundraise online.
"We are also thankful to our good friends at the Country Fire Authority and other collection groups who are taking the iconic purple Good Friday Appeal collection tin online and running a virtual tin shake," she said.
Ms Randall said people could donate online to the Good Friday Appeal at goodfridayappeal.com.au, or buy raffle tickets online for a chance to win more prizes worth more than $190,000.
She said people could also support their town's total by donating to the virtualtinshake.com.
