We've proven it time and time again, no matter what life throws at us - droughts, bushfires, floods.
This year, the challenge we're all facing is coronavirus - the virus itself, but also the measures needed to slow its spread.
Yet another event was "not quite the same" at the weekend because of the restrictions.
Gone were the Anzac Day dawn services, the marches in our towns, the groups of people standing silently together to remember those who fought and died for us.
But while social distancing might have stopped these events, we still found ways to come together - separately - as a community.
It was amazing to see so many Wimmera people still climb out of bed early and stand outside in the brisk, cool air in the driveway, as part of the RSL's Light Up The Dawn initiative.
Some people held candles; others set up memorials in their front yards dedicated to the loved ones they were honouring.
Colourful chalk drawings declaring "Lest we forget" took pride of place in other driveways.
The ceremony of Anzac Day might have been different, but the drive to remember and commemorate our Anzacs was not.
