Twenty-six new jobs have been created with Northern Grampians Shire Council as part of the State Government's $500 million Working for Victoria initiative.
Ararat Rural City Council also has 20 jobs up for grabs while Hindmarsh Shire Council and Yarriambiack Shire Council each have 13 new roles as part of the scheme.
The program was set up to help people left unemployed, whether due to the coronavirus pandemic or longer-term, return to work
Northern Grampians council secured $1.1 million in funding for new roles lasting at least six months including maintenance, administration and pet registration. Jobs have also been created to gather data and analyse information for the tourism, accommodation and retail sectors.
Northern Grampians Shire Council Mayor, Murray Emerson, said the funding would be a great benefit for the region.

"This funding will be a great thing for both council and the community," he said.
"With this grant money, we'll be able to help those in the community who have been hit hard by this pandemic and provide income and support to those who need it."
Northern Grampians Shire Council CEO, Liana Thompson, said council would begin the recruitment process immediately.
"Council is wholeheartedly committed to giving people the best chance to recover from the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic by getting those who have fallen on hard times back to work and earning an income," she said.
"It will also allow council to maintain and improve the public facilities and increase service levels to the people of the Northern Grampians."
The 20 jobs in Ararat, announced last week, include cleaning and administration roles.
Ararat Rural City Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison said a lot of people were 'doing it tough'.
"We know there are a lot of people doing it tough in our municipality after losing their jobs due to the pandemic, but these roles are open to any unemployed person," he said.
"This is one way the council can help get our residents back on their feet while keeping our community safe and working through the social and economic recovery phase."
The 13 positions in Hindmarsh are fixed term for six months across a variety of council areas including cleaning, town maintenance, outreach support and human resources administration.
Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor Cr Rob Gersch said "positions will be available to residents throughout the shire, with eight town maintenance positions available in Dimboola, Jeparit, Nhill and Rainbow."
"This is a fantastic opportunity for community members who may have been stood down from their positions due to the COVID-19 pandemic to join council, and undertake important work in our community," he said.
Thirteen new roles have also been created at Yarriambiack Shire Council with funding of more than $600,000.
Yarriambiack Shire Council Mayor, Cr Graeme Massey said many local people had found themselves out of work due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"There are a lot of people and families facing financial hardship," Cr Massey said.
"Our priority is to look after the Yarriambiack community at this time and one way we can help is to have local people working for council."
