Ararat basketballers, group fitness participants and gym goers once again have facilities in their backyards to use. Ararat Rural City Council chief executive Dr Tim Harrison said Ararat Fitness Centre's changerooms and toilets, and the toddler pool are also now open to the public. Dr Harrison said group fitness classes are limited to a maximum of 10 people, with all participants required to bring towels for floor-based classes such as pilates. The gym will reopen with restricted use of equipment and a maximum of 15 people at a time due to space restrictions. These restrictions are in line with the Victorian government's restriction levels last adjusted on May 31. The Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre and Warracknabeal Leisure Centre have also reopened as of Monday. Horsham Aquatic Centre says all its programs and services will remain closed. Ararat Council also adopted its 2020-21 budget on Monday night, with residents to receive a one per cent rate cut in the coming financial year.
