Stawell's Carey Covers working through pandemic restrictions

While it all hasn't been smooth sailing for the Stawell-based business with adjustments made to ensure the safety of both staff and customers.

"We've had some customers who had ordered indoor blinds but have asked us not to come and fit them," co-owner Robert Carey said.

"These are things we have to work with. It's fair enough. We had set up to go there and rang beforehand and gave them the option.

"Most people across the region have worked with us pretty well and stayed away while we've gone in and done a job on site."

Mr Carey said despite some of the difficulties faced a lot of the outdoor work the company does was manageable following the guidelines.

"When the schools were closed it helped us immensely," he said.

"We could go in and do any obligations we had there without any problems at all. There is a lot more involved when working at schools when they are open to do with the safety of the children and our workers."

Office manager Geraldine Carey said she believed because residents were staying at home more often more projects were getting done around the house.

"We've seen an increase for orders of blinds and drapes," she said.

"Normally people will order blinds coming in to summer while doing their Spring renovations but we've found that people have started them earlier.

"We've worked on a lot of boats and caravans. I think it's because people are staying at home and not using their recreational assets they are using this time to do the maintenance on them."
