The major tourist attraction in the region has experienced "busier" than average period.
With social distancing measures in place, the Zoo caters to a large number of visitors to meet the government's guidelines.
On Tuesday, the borders between Victoria and New South Wales will close at midnight, adding to the already closed border between South Australia and Victoria.
"The South Australia border has a larger impact for our business than the New South Wales border," Zoo owner Yvonne Culell said.
"We attract a lot of visitors from the Mt Gambier region. We get a few from across the New South Wales border.
"It's been extremely busy these school holidays. Our visitor numbers are up on last year."
Mrs Culell said after a busy June, there was an indication the holiday period would have strong visitor numbers.

"That strength in numbers has continued," she said.
"We are still running all of our encounter experiences besides the reptile encounter due to social distancing rules.
"We're managing numbers in the entry and exit of the building. There might be a little wait either getting in or out but it's manageable and seems to be working quite well."
