COUGHLIN Park Bowls Club is set to become the final bowls club in Horsham to implement synthetic greens.

The club received $250,000 in funding from the state government to replace its two grass greens with the artificial variety.
Coughlin Park's Mick Ellis said having grass greens was too demanding from both a labour and financial perspective.
"The advantage of synthetic is that there is fewer man-hours required for the members," he said.
"We're all volunteers, and there's a lot of hours required to get it right out there.
"The cost in grass is another issue. A lot of chemicals are required and all that sort of thing. We're really happy to get some synthetic greens in."

Mr Ellis said using less water was also an advantage.

In addition to the two synthetic greens, the club will also ensure the venue has all-abilities access, with ramps to be built as part of the development.
Mr Ellis said while there was still a lot of water to go under the bridge, the club hoped to have the greens ready for the spring and summer.
The state government also said participation at Coughlin Park was forecast to double as a result of the project.
