Viterra has announced its annual harvest recruitment drive for up to 1800 people to join the company, to help bring in this season's grain across South Australia and western Victoria.
Applications are now open for workers at 55 sites, with a range of seasonal roles available from approximately October until January next year.
Viterra human resources manager Alyson Gilbey said harvest workers play a critical role in the Viterra business during one of its busiest times of the year.
"They help ensure our sites continue to run smoothly to provide growers with an ongoing efficient service," Alyson said.
She said it is a fantastic opportunity for people looking for a job to work for a company that provides professional development and a supportive environment.
"Anyone can apply. All our harvest roles are provided with complete training, so no previous experience is necessary," Alyson said.
"Viterra is proud to be a major employer in regional communities and provide a workplace for employees to develop in their roles, with some staying on as permanent employees after harvest has finished."
Viterra operator Peter Martin started with the business two years ago as a harvest worker based at sites in South Australia's south-east.
"I was only expecting to initially work for three months but ended up staying on and have recently accepted a permanent part-time position with Viterra," Peter said.
"I love the work as it's very team orientated and it's a great way for people to earn some really good money in a short period of time.
"It's become the perfect lifestyle for me and at the age of 72, I have no plans of retiring anytime soon."
Alyson stated Viterra generally looks to recruit around 1500 harvest workers annually, but this year expects the number to be higher due to the more positive outlook for the season ahead.
"It's exciting that we're able to offer even more job opportunities in 2020 and boost employment in our regional communities," Alyson said.
Harvest work at Viterra is available over three months from October (depending on the site location and harvest), with the possibility to travel and work across southern Australia.
