RURAL Northwest Health has banned visitors to its aged care facilities due to the risk of COVID-19.

Both the Hopetoun Residential Aged Care and the Yarriambiack Lodge, located in Warracknabeal, will be affected by the change.
Rural Northwest Health CEO Kevin Mills said it was a difficult decision.

"Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases in the Grampians region over the past three days, [we] made the difficult decision to temporarily cease visitation ... effective immediately," he said.
"On compassionate grounds, relatives will be allowed into facilities to visit. However, there will be strict requirements around the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
"We will work with all families who are affected by this decision."
Victoria registered its largest increase in cases once again on Friday, with 428.
The Horsham council region currently has two active cases.
