Monday 1pm: A man is in custody after a six-hour siege in the Wimmera on Sunday night, which a Melbourne police team was called in to resolve.
Detective Senior Constable Neil Roberts said the incident followed a domestic violence incident.
"A woman was taken to Wimmera Base Hospital with serious injuries," he said.
"Around 8pm, a male barricaded himself in the home, doused it in fuel and threatened to light the home on fire if police entered.
"Emergency services were in attendance and as a result of the nature of the siege, with the fuel and the threat of the explosion it could cause, a Critical Incident Response Team from Melbourne attended.
"It was at about 2am that entry occurred on the premise and that male was arrested."
Detective Senior Constable Roberts said charges had not been laid at the time of talking to the Mail-Times.
