Wimmera Health Care Group chief executive Catherine Morley, speaking at community Q & A session on Thursday night, confirmed that six ADF personnel were bound for the region.

"The big thing is about access to testing and how do we go about getting that testing easier to access and to have in a timely manner," she said.

"I'm pleased to say the DHHS have been working hard with us and we've got the Australian Defence Force arriving tomorrow to help us to expand the (testing) service," she said.

There are currently four active cases in the Horsham Rural City Council local government area.

COVID-19 UPDATE:

A drive-through testing service will open on Arnott St from 9am on Saturday, and is estimated to allow up to 400 people to be tested in a day.

The ADF personnel will be in Horsham for at least three weeks, but Ms Morley noted their stay could be extended if required.

"We've spoken to them today, they're experience people who have been invovled in this process in Melbourne, Shepparton and Bendigo," Ms Morley said.

"They're coming to make sure we can get the numbers through.

"The council will help us with traffic flow, so we think we've got it sorted and people will be able to come and get tested."
