Victoria's Health Department revealed the location of positive COVID-19 cases by postcode on Friday.

The data has since been collated by volunteer-run website 'COVID Live'.

A state government spokesperson confirmed to a Wimmera Mail-Times journalist that the data was accurate on Friday night.

Previously, the smallest area of detail possible was local government areas, where the Horsham Rural City council area was deemed to have seven active cases.

The new data reveals that there are four active COVID-19 cases in Horsham with the postcode 3400. The area has had seven in total since the pandemic began.

3401 - an area stretching from as high as Wallup to as low as Rocklands Reservoir, including Pimpinio, Longerenong, Jung, Quantong and Telangatuk - has two active cases. This region has had three cases in total.

3409 - a postcode further west including Arapiles, Natimuk and Noradjuha - had one active case as of Friday, and one case in total.

Further north-west of Horsham, the newest data shows that postcode 3418 has one active case. This region includes Nhill, Gerang Gerung, Lawloit, Kiata and Yanac.

Data released by the DHHS on Friday said there were zero cases in the Hindmarsh shire region and one in the West Wimmera shire region.

Other surrounding regions, such as Dimboola, Murtoa, St Arnaud, Balmoral and Edenhope do not have active cases in their postcodes.

Member for Lowan Emma Kealy called the release of the new data a "win" for the region, but reminded residents not to ignoring health and safety recommendations even if their postcode had no active cases.

3409 (Natimuk region) - One active case, one in total

3412 (Goroke) - Zero cases

3413 (Minimay) - Zero cases

3414 (Dimboola) - Zero cases

3419 (Kaniva) - Zero cases

3423 (Jeparit) - Zero cases

3424 (Rainbow) - Zero

3480 (Donald region) - Zero
