The court had planned to resume some jury trials between July and September this year, but those plans were shelved when metropolitan Melbourne re-entered lockdown to combat the state's second coronavirus wave.
Chief Judge Peter Kidd said expert health advice and the level of restrictions factored into the decision.
"There remains considerable uncertainty regarding the timeline and manner in which restrictions may be eased after the current Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne end," he said.
"However, public statements indicate that any easing of restrictions will be staged, and any opening-up will be gradual and cautious."

Jury trials have been suspended since March due to social-distancing rules.
The judge left open the possibility for a pilot program that would allow a limited number of trials to go ahead, should conditions permit.
Priority would be given to those cases listed for trial in the end of this year.
In the absence of jury trials, County Court judges have primarily focused on plea hearings and sentences, appeals, bail applications and hearings for pre-trial.
