PAINTING will finally begin on silos in Kaniva, after months of COVID-related delays.
The painting of silos at Kaniva and Serviceton were scheduled to go ahead in March, but are yet to begin due to the pandemic.
Work started on neighbouring silos at Goroke last week, and Kaniva will soon follow suit.
The silos at Kaniva, owned by GrainCorp, will host a mural incorporating Wimmera flora and fauna painted by Melbourne artist David Lee Pereira.
Residents and community members will be able to visit the site to watch the painting in process, but have been urged to abide by safety and social distancing guidelines.
West Wimmera council chief executive David Leahy said it was exciting to see both the Kaniva and Goroke silo art projects come to life.
"Residents in these towns will have a front-row seat to the action and will be able to see these fantastic murals be painted," he said.
"We hope these projects will encourage tourists to come and visit our unique part of the world, especially once COVID-19 restrictions have further eased."
