Dimboola signs gun duo for 2021 Wimmera Football League season

Jack Landt and Dylan Tarczon have signed on with the Roos for the 2021 season.

Landt joins the club from Sunbury in the Ballarat Football League. The new Roo is an interleague representative, former Vic Country squad member and has spent time in the Essendon District Football League.

Tarczon has spent the past couple of seasons with Riddell in the Riddell District league, having previously played for Coburg in the VFL.

Dimboola football director Luke Hutchinson said the signings were a major coup for the club.

"They'll bring absolute top-quality football to the club," he said.

"From the level they've played at, to their skills, they're just phenomenal.

"It's exciting. Everyone loves seeing fresh faces at a football club. They're both exciting, explosive footballers."

Landt earned a reputation as an elusive small-forward early in his career, helped by a 52-goal season in 2016.

A shift into the midfield didn't damage his stocks, being one of only three Ballarat Football League players named in the initial 58-man Vic Country senior representative training squad in 2019.

"(It's good) to have another midfielder who can rotate forward," Hutchinson said.

"We have Ben Miller, who likes to rotate back. To have another who will go forward will make a big difference, because Jack is deadly."

"He's deadly quick. I would expect him to kick 40 goals out of the middle. That's the sort of player he is."

Landt will also serve as an assistant coach, supporting head coach Justin Beugelaar.

"Jack will bring a whole different element, in regards to coaching," Hutchinson said.

"It will be good to have a guy that's spent a lot of time in a high-end midfield. It's something we think will really help us, just having a guy who understands what a good midfield core looks like.

"We think we have the pieces to just about have the best midfield in the competition. So Jack will be able to help us get some structure with that."

Tarczon was the third-most prolific goalkicker in the Riddell District league last season, racking up 69 goals in 17 matches.

MAKING NEWS ACROSS THE WIMMERA:

Tarczon, who also once played for Sunbury, is expected to provide a long-sought-after target up top.

"I watched his last game of footy last season, and just black booked him," Hutchinson said.

"We probably hadn't had some key forwards since 2014, when Lachie Exell left.

"So, (it's great) to have Dylan come in, with his record and having played down forward in the VFL.

"Key forwards don't grow on trees these days. Beugs (Justin Beugelaar) played that role for us last year. He still kicked bags of goals, but he's a NEAFL team of the year centre-half-back. That's his position."

The pair are currently playing together for St Marys in the NTFL, alongside Rupanyup coach Jack Musgrove.

Hutchinson said the list was shaping up nicely, with the Roos in negotiations with more recruits.

"We're pretty happy with how our structure is going. Maybe we might look at another midfielder or halfback," he said.

"Those are probably our only needs. Everything on top of that is a bonus."
