The outdoor pool at the Horsham Aquatic Centre will open on Monday, October 12.
Horsham Rural City Council chief executive officer Sunil Bhalla said the decision to open the pool came after discussions with the YMCA and regular users.
"In previous years the outdoor pool has opened in late November," Mr Bhalla said.
"We've had contact with several community members who have requested the pool be opened early, given the COVID pandemic's impact on opportunity for recreational activities."
The opening date has been brought forward following the state government's announcement that outdoor pools could reopen as part of the third step of easing COVID-19 restrictions.
To ensure the health and safety of the community, the opening of the pool brings with it detailed COVID-19 protocols.
These include:
- All sessions to be booked in advance via the Horsham Aquatic Centre website
- Maximum of 50 swimmers, lap and recreational swimming allowed
- Outdoor group fitness: 10 per class, 4m2 per person
- Outdoor personal training: Maximum two clients, 4m2 per person.
The outdoor pool will be open Monday to Friday from 6am until 10am and 4pm to 7pm.
