SOUTH Australian Police have charged a man with breaching COVID-19 directions, after he allegedly boarded a freight train in Dimboola bound for Adelaide.

In an update, SAPol said the 41-year-old had not waited for his application to travel across the border to be processed.
"At about 6.15am on Wednesday 21 October, a rail supervisor located the man after the train arrived in Adelaide and police were alerted," police said.
"The train had departed Dimboola last night where it is alleged the man boarded the train. Patrols responded and the male was arrested.
"The man... had submitted a Cross Border Travel Registration form however, failed to await the outcome and was arrested and charged with breaching COVID-19 Directions.
"He has been refused police bail and is expected to appear in court at a later date."
A media spokesman added the arrest took place in the inner city suburb of Regency Park, and that it was not known where the accused lived.
He said the usual procedure for breaches was for people to be returned to the state they travelled from after going through the South Australian court system.
