Markets move to showgrounds as Natimuk's fundraising efforts continue

Attendees at this Sunday's market will also see a mock picket fence, part of the Agricultural and Pastoral Society's efforts to raise $125,000.

Secretary Judith Bysouth said they society was seeking to pay for a fence around the showgrounds' oval, by getting residents to pay for an individual picket for $100 or a full fence segment for $1300.

"A picket includes a free plaque with their name and a logo of their choice," Ms Bysouth said.

"Construction of the fence is planned for early 2021, so all will be in place for the combined 150^th Back to Natimuk and 130^th Natimuk Show planned for March 2022."

The $125,000 matches a $500,000 federal government grant the society received earlier this month under the Regional Agricultural Show Development Grants Program.

With this, it will complete its upgrade of the show pavilion, which has already been repainted, re-plumbed and had a cool room installed and is awaiting a kitchen fit-out.

The society is also holding a Christmas raffle to raise funds for the fence, with prizes to be won including vouchers left over from the cancelled 2020 Natimuk Show, originally planned for late March. The draw is on December 19.

Ms Bysouth said the 2021 show would go ahead - another condition of the federal government grant - though the committee was not sure what it would look like at this stage.

Sunday's market takes place between 10am and 1.30pm.
