
UPDATE: A cyclist who died after a collision with a car near Sea Lake has been identified as off-duty police officer Dennis Cox.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning on the Sea Lake-Lascelles Road.
In a statement, Victoria Police said:
"Leading Senior Constable Dennis Cox was a well-respected and admired member of the Sea Lake community working at the communities one-person station for the past eight years.
"Victoria Police extends its deepest sympathy and condolences to Dennis' immediate and extended family and friends."
EARLIER: A 42-year-old cyclist has died near Sea Lake after a collision with a car on Thursday morning.
Police say the collision occurred at around 8am on the Sea Lake-Lascelles Road near Stacey Road.
The cyclist, identified by police as a Sea Lake man, died at the scene.
Police said the driver of the car stopped at the scene and was assisting police with their enquiries.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives were en route to visit the scene this morning.
