A potential merger between Kaniva-Leeor United and Nhill has been put on ice.
The Nhill and District Sporting Club opted against a proposal to merge for 12 months, as both clubs navigate the ramifications of COVID-19 and South Australian border restrictions.
As one of the only Victorian sides playing in the Kowree-Naracoorte-Tatiara league, Kaniva-Leeor said the border hindered their ability to remain in the league next season.
Club president Jason Gordon said another year without football and netball would be a "travesty" for the towns.
He also called on football's governing bodies to better guide clubs out of turmoil.
