Hindmarsh Shire mayor Ron Ismay said the museum's extensive collection is important to Jeparit and the local area.
"We look forward to assessing the collection's broader significance and gaining a greater understanding of the importance the collection holds in Victorian and Australian heritage," Cr Ismay said.
The museum reopened in mid-November following months of coronavirus enforced closure.
It is open to the public on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 3pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 4.30pm.
