A Country Fire Authority spokesperson said crews would remain at the scene for some time to mop up and black out the site.
The spokesperson said the fire had burned 70 hectares on Monday.
At one stage, 26 vehicles and aircraft were responding to the blaze.
Earlier, Monday, 3pm: Vehicles and aircraft are responding to a fire not yet under control near the Henty Highway in Brimpaen.
26 vehicles were responding to the bushfire at 2.26pm. The fire was first reported at 1.38pm.
The fire is moving in a north-easterly direction and an advice warning is in place for Brimpaen, Heathvale, Laharum, Mockinya and Wartook.
The Country Fire Authority says there is c rrently no threat to these communities, but residents should monitor conditions and warnings.
A Country Fire Authority spokesperson said: "There is currently a fire on the Henty Highway at Brimpaen. We have trucks and aircraft responding."
