The Victorian government has announced funding for amenity upgrades at caravan parks in the Wimmera.
Horsham Riverside caravan park, Warracknabeal caravan park, Grampians Gate caravan park and Recreation Reserve are slated to receive upgrades under the funding.
Horsham Riverside park manager, Angela Jolly, said the upgrade would make staying at the caravan park an attractive option for more people.
"We identified some key priorities for improvement and working together with the council, this grant will allow us to deliver these," Ms Jolly said.
"A particularly exciting element will be out first all-abilities ensuite to support a caravan or camping site."
Under the $113,352 grant provided to Horsham Riverside caravan park, upgrades include:
- Installation of a new pre-fabricated all abilities ensuite for caravan/camping site
- Specialised furniture to improve access in two cabins
- Upgrade of caravan park sites with concrete slabs and new utility connections
- Installation of a Dump Ezy waste system inside the park
- Construction of a new storage room
This comes as part of the Victorian government's Great Outdoors grant program, which will fund $105 million in improvement programs for campgrounds across the state.
Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change, Lily D'Ambrosio said the upgrades will be a big boost for regional tourism.
"It's great to see families now back enjoying affordable camping and caravan holidays and these upgrades will help make their experiences even more memorable," she said.
"This is a great boost for our regional towns when they need it most. Creating local jobs while attracting more visitors through improved facilities."
