The Phoenix have won just one of their three games so far, and face a tough task against reigning premiers, Perth Wildcats on Friday night.
The Victorian side - who are heading into their second season in the NBL - have been out of the state for most of the new year.

Creek said although being on the road was tough, it offered opportunities that his side had to seize.
"Anytime you're on the road for a month it's always going to have its trials and tribulations," he said.
"We understand that it's a time for us to come together...we've got to enjoy the team camaraderie.
"It's a great time for us to be together and we're very lucky to be playing basketball, so we've got to enjoy these moments."
The NBL is releasing fixtures in batches, due to ever-changing COVID-19 restrictions, though the Phoenix are scheduled to return home next weekend.
MAKING NEWS:
A few weeks later, Melbourne will become the league's home for a month, with all nine teams to compete for the inaugural NBL Cup.
All wins and losses in the NBL Cup will count toward each team's overall record for the 2020-21 regular season.
"Going back to the heartland is going to be the absolute best part of the season so far," Creek said.
"We love the South East fans. Their support is infectious and it gets us over the line in a lot of games.
"When we're tired and lethargic in that fourth quarter, you look around and see the greats fans and you get that little extra boost."
