Student leaders are responsible for representing the school for official functions, running assemblies, and raising the Australian flag each day.
Dimboola Primary School's Principal Greg Sampson said the school encourages its leaders to be role models for other students.
"The kids take a great deal of pride in getting the role and they wear the badge with honour," he said.
"It is certainly a highly sought after position. We have children who present a speech to the assembled audience: the students, teachers and visitors.
"They are selected based on how they presented in that and their record at school over the years.
"I suppose the leaders have dizzying expectations to live up to, but I have got great expectations. I am very confident in the job that they will do, and I would like to wish them every success in their leadership roles this year."
