Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley has confirmed two new COVID-19 cases have been recorded at the Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport hotel quarantine facility.
A hotel quarantine resident who completed their 14-day quarantine on February 7 tested positive on February 9, after their stay.
During a press conference, Mr Foley revealed another case linked to the facility, identified as a food and beverage worker, who "tested positive in the last few hours".
Chief Health Officer Professor Brett Sutton said authorities believe the individual who tested positive after they left the quarantine hotel was likely exposed just before leaving the facility and then developed the illness.
"Our focus is on the transmission that might have occurred on the relevant floor where positive cases were known to be," Professor Sutton said.
