The Wimmera Mail-Times published an article where one resident called the lake a "stinking puddle".
GWM Water Managing Director, Mark Williams said while Green Lake is no longer used for water supply purposes, it is not decommissioned.
"Most years, including last year, the lake receives the 'first flush' from the Rocklands/Moora to Taylors Lake channel transfer which gives the lake a boost ahead of the warmer months," Mr Williams said.
"In recent years, GWM Water has offered Horsham Rural City Council access to additional water from its overall consumptive water holding which is only available during wetter years when there is sufficient water to meet demand for its rural and urban supply obligations."

Mr Williams explained water availability has been limited.
"This was not possible in 2020 due to the relatively low water levels and rainfall over the previous 12 months," he concluded.
