Preusker's partner Holly McKechnie couldn't believe the turnaround performance from placing 12th in the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes on February 13 to win the $1m Group 1 classic.
"Last time was just out of character," McKechnie said speaking after the race to racing.com
"He's always trying this horse.
"But I do think getting him to the outside and the addition of blinkers helped him."
McKechnie said win was surreal.

"I can't believe it," she said.
"He's always had a lot of ability, this horse. Obviously last start he ran below par and we couldn't really find any issue. We've done the old trick with the blinkers and it seems to have done the job."
The horse has Wimmera-based owners and was trained under Terry O'Sullivan before transferring to Pruesker mid-2020 shortly after it won the Group 2 Sires' Produce Stakes.
Preusker said he would discuss his immediate future with his jubilant ownership group.
"We've got him in the All-Star Mile and we've got him in Sydney as well, he's got such a great temperament, we'll sit down with all the connections today and map out what really is priority," Preusker told RSN927's Correct Weight program on Sunday morning.
"He's certainly going to improve again off a good tough run and having a go, they come off fit once they chip in, so he's entitled to improve again fitness wise. Hopefully we draw the right path."
