Staff arrived to work on Monday, February 22 to see earthmoving equipment in motion behind the construction site fencing.
Centre manager Ann Vaughan said it had been a long wait for the community to see the commencement of the capital project extension to the current building.
"We are very excited to see the commencement of this project," she said.

"This has been a vision in the pipeline since 2016 with a significant amount of community consultation, planning and fundraising.
"For a small community like Harrow, this project is not only very exciting but everyone realises how important it is to ensure the continued provision of safe and quality healthcare from babies to the elderly.
"In 2019, we received a major grant from the Collie Foundation and a generous bequest from the late Don Pyers to enable this vision to come to fruition.
"This project brings a smile across everyone's faces in Harrow and beyond and the support has been invaluable."

Committee of management president Peter Johnson was on site see the commencement of works.
"We thank the community of Harrow and members of our capital project committee for being part of this project," he said.
"The overall vision is to ensure we are moving forward sustainably and taking care of the health provision in our community."
This building extension will provide more space for enhanced community health programs, improvements to disabled and ambulance access and better facilitate quality clinical care.
