Year 12 and 11 students came together for a night of dancing in front of hundreds of people, including state member for Lowan, Emma Kealy, and Horsham mayor Robyn Gulline.
Horsham College school captains Zachary Koenig and Bella Panozzo said that after waiting 12 months, it was a surreal experience to get to do their debutante ball finally.
"It's very nerve-wracking but we're all very grateful that we are fortunate enough to be able to do our deb at all, if not a year late," Zachary said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Last year was devastating, everyone was ready."
Zachary said he's happy everyone could be there and witness the spectacle of the night.
"We had some newcomers. It's all turned out in the end and maybe even better than it may have turned out last year," he said.
"We're all very excited to make it happen."
Other school captain Bella said she was very grateful the event was able to go ahead.
"As a year 12 cohort it brought us all closer together," she said.
"Organising ourselves, supporting each other and giving advice. It's been very beneficial."
Bella said the event is not just about the debutantes making memories.
"Making memories especially for the parents and grandparents. It means a lot to them being a part of the special night."
Bella said though it was disappointing to have the event cancelled last year, she and her fellow debs knew it would happen eventually.
"In the scheme of things we knew it would happen eventually," she said.
"We're grateful things could be altered so we could have this event."
Bella said the debutante ball showed the culture of Horsham College.
"We can get to know each other even more," she said.
"We can see each other, including teachers, in another light outside school."
Zachary said everyone did remarkably at the event.
"The highlight was walking out and seeing everyone," he said.
"It was unlike anything I have ever done before."
Bella said after the deb ball, the year 12s can now focus on their studies for the rest of the year.
