Compared to their 2019 season Noradjuha Quantong look much improved and took a five point win against the Swifts in round one.
And they lived up to challenge against the reigning premiers going down by just nine goals, 53-42 as they faded late.
Laharum A Grade co-coach Caitlin Dumesny said she was happy with the way her side batted out a tough game.

"We unveiled our premiership flag today out at our home ground which was really nice and it had been a long time coming so it was nice to to do that," she said.
"Quantong are a pretty tough team.
"We knew it was going to be a tough game, and we had a few players out ourselves, but we were happy to come away with the win.
"Our goal end was pretty strong, Maddy and myself have played together for a long time and we just know where each other are.
"We had good pressure down the court and our hand over was allowing us to have a lot of intercepts through the mid-court and that set up a lot of our goals for the game."
Dumesny was also impressed with the Bombers game.
"They were really good and we expected that after they had had a great off-season and got some good recruits," she said.
"Our main focus was to stop the ball before it got into their goals because they are really strong in that area.
"We expected it to be a tough game and it was really quite free-flowing, quick and high scoring.
OTHER NEWS:
Our goal attack was really good and our Faith McKenzie did a great job playing down in defence, our new recruits have settled in really well."
The reigning champs have a bye next week, but Dumesny is seeing it as a time for improvement.
"We are just trying to get some consistency a lot of us have played together for four or five years now and we are just trying to mould the new girls into the team and across the whole court.
"Our defensive pressure is going to be our main focus for the girls, trying to get our hands on the ball."
