A driver has been detected travelling well above the speed limit on the Western Highway earlier this month, leaving him without a licence for six months.

Kaniva Police said they detected a motorist travelling at 141kmp/h westbound on the Western Highway near Nhill in the afternoon on Monday, April 12.

"The 21-year old male received an infringement penalty notice of $620, and was disqualified from driving for 6-months," a police spokesperson said.
Kaniva Police also said they "conduct regular active patrols" on the Western Highway and reminded motorists to please obey the posted speed limits.
