As part of the Nhill Library upgrades, the Hindmarsh Shire would like to create a more welcoming space for all multicultural community members, families, young adults, and visitors to the area.
Hindmarsh Shire has previously received grants from the living libraries funding to build new libraries at Dimboola and Rainbow and create a new library space in Jeparit.
"I'm proud of our new buildings and the new library structure Hindmarsh Shire has established to create a new modern library service," Cr Ismay said.
The refurbishment of Nhill library will include internal works that will secure the building's heritage, new shelving, furnishings, gaming consoles and break out spaces for young adult areas, junior spaces and room for activities and nursing mother's spaces.
"I'm thrilled for the Nhill community and the opportunity to create a space not just for learning and literacy development but in the opportunity to create an engaged space for social inclusion and community connection," Cr Ismay said.
The renovations to Nhill Library are expected to be complete by the end of the year.
