Social media arrived in 2004 with Facebook, the iPhone took over in 2007, digital streaming has made DVDs almost obsolete, and we've had a total of six different people occupy the nation's top job.
While many aspects of our lives have changed, there is still a lot that remains the same.
One need look no further than Horsham Saint's Bowen Friend, who pulled on the famed red-white-and-black jumper for the 300th time last weekend.
Friend debuted in the club's reserves way back in 2002 and made his senior debut in 2005.

The club stalwart was low-key when discussing his mammoth achievement, which came during the Saints' win over Nhill on Saturday.
"It's just another game really, it was a good day though," Friend said.
"I kicked a goal which was the first one I've kicked for a couple of years. Otherwise, I didn't play too bad.
"We had an 80's night at the clubrooms, so hung around there for a bit after."
Friend grew up playing for the Saints and said it was the "good bunch of guys" at the club that has kept him around so long.
The 300-gamer has played in a few losing grand finals, but his career highlights came in 2015 and 2016 when his sides' finally broke through and won a flag.
"It took a while, we won the reserves one in 2015 and the senior one in 2016 and I played in both of them," Friend said.
"They're probably some of the better times we had, we had a few we lost and it was good to win a couple after all them years."
OTHER NEWS:
Friend has seen more than his fair share of quality players come through the Saints' ranks in his time.
"Phil Butsch, is probably one of the hardest players at the ball I've seen and Gav Kelm is still running around in the twos," Friend said.
He hasn't got a lot left to achieve in his beloved Saints' colours, but Friend just hopes to play "as long as his body holds up".
However long that is, getting to 400-games isn't out of the realms of possibility.
"I don't know at the moment (about getting to 4oo games), I'm feeling a bit average but yeah we'll see how we go," Friend said.
"That's a long way away yet I think."
