"The flu is still in the community," she said.
"Just because COVID-19 is there doesn't mean the flu isn't still there."
Flu vaccinations are required seasonally to be effective.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Ms Taylor said bouts of flu have an impact on the health care system.
"The flu does result in significant illness among our community each year," she said.
"COVID-19 doesn't mean you can't get the flu, so it's really important you go and get your flu shot still."
If you are able to get your COVID-19 vaccination, you must wait 14 days after getting your flu shot.
"You need to make sure there is 14 days in between when you have your flu and COVID-19 vaccines," Ms Taylor said.
There's no evidence that the two vaccinations interact with each other, this is a precautionary recommendation that allows for proper safety and monitoring for both vaccines.
Visit your GP or pharmacy to get your flu shot.
