The 28-year-old forward played every game for the Pies this year and was instrumental in her side reaching a preliminary final.

The Pies went down by just four points to the eventual premiers (Brisbane Lions) in that match, with Alexander bagging her sixth goal of the season.

Speaking to the Wimmera Mail-Times, Alexander said she was excited to extend her stay with the Pies, especially with the season they had in 2021.

"We were four points away from that premiership almost in a way, so I'm pretty stoked with the season," Alexander said.

"Hopefully, we can go one step better next year.

"Ultimately the main goal's a premiership so it hurts when you get that close, but it makes you hungrier."

2021 was the first time Alexander featured in every game for the Pies, which she attributed to her improved fitness.

Alongside Alexander's contract news, Collingwood announced on Wednesday that Ash Brazill, Stephanie Chiocci, Sarah Rowe, Mikala Cann, Jordyn Allen, Aishling Sheridan and Jordan Membrey had all signed new deals.

"I think that was the goal in the offseason was to sign as many as we could to retain the list, especially with the expansion coming in the next couple of years," Alexander said.

"I think we'll call it a successful offseason hopefully, but yeah, we'll see how we go.

"A few new inclusions which is exciting."

Now in the AFLW offseason, the former Horsham Hornet has been spending her time playing and helping out with Collingwood's VFLW team.

Alexander has only played three games for the VFLW side so far, allowing other non-AFLW listed players to hone their skills in an elite environment.

When on the field, Alexander was named second-best-on-ground in two of them and her team's best player in the other.

"I wanted to keep going with the form and get a bit of confidence going into the offseason," Alexander said.

"Unfortunately with COVID, we sort of missed a few, but it's back this week, but now I think it's sort of more of a time to get the younger girls involved and get them developing.
