Barrett walked into his post-match press conference armed with a list of issues, including an 8-2 set-restart count against his side and 4-1 penalty ledger.

His biggest concern was again consistency with the NRL's crackdown, after play was taken back for Luke Thompson to be sin-binned for a high shot on Dylan Brown.

Eels lock Nathan Brown was however allowed to stay on the field after collecting Tui Katoa high with the winger unable to return.

Brown was placed on report, but not binned.

It compounded a 30-0 scoreline against the Bulldogs in the second half as they had just 26 per cent of the ball and completed only seven sets.

"There are a few questions I will be asking this week because we didn't get a chance to get in the game in the second half," Barrett said.

"I'm disappointed with the 8-2 six-agains against us; I'm disappointed with the 4-1 penalty count against us.

"I am disappointed with Tui Katoa getting knocked out yet we don't go back to it. I am disappointed with the Thompson one. They change the game.

"We have to fight extremely hard to beat those good teams, and we need a few things to go our way.

"We worked really hard against a physical team to win some tackles and there was no real reward for it."

Barrett also said he was "disappointed" with a penalty try call which swung the match, when Mitch Moses was pushed out of a chase when he kicked a loose ball forward with the score at 10-6 in Canterbury's favour.

And the Bulldogs coach also took issue with the fact Thompson found himself in trouble for the hit on Dylan Brown after the Eels five-eighth had passed.

"There was nowhere for him (Thompson) to go," Barrett said.

"He can't stop. He didn't try and whack him. It wasn't in the back.

"It's pretty hard for a big fella at 110kg to pull up on a slippery night and disappear. You can't do it."
