On February 13, 2021, Lukic assaulted a woman at Nhill Caravan Park.
Lukic and the victim, who were known to each other, were inside the home of a couple living at the caravan park when he grabbed the victim's left arm, told her to 'shut-up' and hit her with the back of his hand.
The victim left the park and was later pursued by Lukic, who told the victim to travel back to his house.
Lukic later attempted to get the victim to purchase cigarettes, and told the victim it was her fault for getting assaulted.
At 5pm the victim left the house and reported the incident to Horsham Police.
On March 2, 2021 police executed a search warrant at Lukic's residence on Park Street in Nhill.
Upon entering the residence, police noticed many draws in the kitchen were ajar and thought it unusual.
During the search warrant police found a bag containing several 12 gauge shotgun shells.
In his bedroom, police found what they believed to be a makeshift firearm made from galvanised steel pipes and containing a single 12 gauge shotgun shell with primer.
OTHER NEWS:
In a paper bag by the side of his bed police found 24 disassembled fireworks of various sizes.
Also in the room, a small black metal box was found containing multiple explosive devices with the words 'Bang, Bang C***' written on the side.
One explosive device in the container had metal ball bearings taped to its top and sides. Another had ball bearings attached and used a soft drink can as a base.
Police contacted the arson and explosives squad, evacuated the street and cut off traffic.
The bomb squad destroyed the devices in a sandbag bunker made on-site, as they were deemed too dangerous to travel. A remote control robot disassembled another explosive.
Other bomb making materials and steel piping were also confiscated from the property.
On March 5, 2021 Lukic was arrested and interviewed at Nhill Police Station, providing no comment.
Magistrate Jonathan Klestadt reprimanded Lukic for his "reckless behaviour", and compared the homemade explosive devices in his home to weapons found in theatres of war.
"You manufactured a device capable of firing a shotgun shell with disregard for your own safety and the community's safety," Mr Klestadt said.
"Such devices cause death and serious injury in theatres of war.
"It is fatuous to suggest these devices were just the product of an unoccupied mind.
"There is no earthly reason to own devices such as these in civilised society."
Lukic was sentenced to a 20-month prison term, with a non-parole period of 12 months.
He had served 159 days in custody at the time of sentencing.
