While most forwards will tell you they don't play for individual awards, they'd be lying if they told you they don't take a peek at the goalkicking charts every now and again.

As we reach the pointy end of this year's Wimmera Football Netball League and Horsham District Football League seasons, the battle to be crowned each league's leading goalkicker is nearing boiling point.
In the WFNL it's a two-horse race for this year's most prolific scorer.
Stawell's Cody Driscoll and Minyip-Murtoa's Brayden Ison lead the pack after 12 rounds of football; both forwards tied on 37 majors.
READ MORE:
With only two rounds to go, Ison will be hoping to fill his boots this weekend against the Demons, so he can build a healthy lead on Driscoll whose Warriors' side have the bye.
Driscoll has led the charts since round one, but a finger injury has seen him on the sidelines since round ten at the end of June.
In Driscoll's absence, Ison has slowly been bridging the gap between him and the Warriors' spearhead, kicking 10 goals from his last three games.
With finals already secured, It is unknown whether the Warrior's will risk Driscoll returning in their final match, against the Horsham Saints, but in the end it could prove the difference between him winning the league's goalkicking award or not.
In the HDFNL the race isn't as tight.
Rupanyup playing-coach Jack Musgrove sits comfortably on top of the charts with 49 goals, eight goals ahead of Harrow-Balmoral's Simon Close.
With only one round of the district league to go it would take a miracle for Close to win it from here, but with four bags of six-or-more goals this year for Close, you can't rule it out.
MORE NEWS:
The odds heavily favour Musgrove though, whose Panthers' side are taking on ninth-placed Taylors Lake in their final match. The forward slotted six goals in this year's previous clash between the two sides.
Close's task is also made a lot harder by the fact the Roos are taking on third-placed Jeparit-Rainbow who have conceded 643-points less than the Lakers this year.
Natimuk-United's Nathan Koenig sits in third-spot on the goalkicking charts after a fruitful year in front of the sticks, but the nine-goal difference between him and Musgrove should prove too big to overcome.
Special mention must go to Noradjuha-Quantong's Shane Oakley who has kicked an incredible 54 reserve grade goals this year, from just seven games.
Unfortunately for football purists, any chance of seeing him near 100-goal-mark was dashed when he was deservingly elevated to the Bombers' senior side in early July.
