Horsham's Rene Caris and former Ararat Storm player Georgia Clarke have had their hopes of winning the 2021 VFLW premiership dashed, due to Victoria's ongoing community lockdown.
The AFL announced on Friday the 2021 VFLW grand final would not go ahead.
Caris and Clarke's Geelong Cats were initially due to take on the undefeated Magpies in the decider on August 8, but that was put on hold due to the increasing Coronavirus restrictions.
The AFL declared that no premiership would be awarded for the 2021 VFLW season, however Collingwood would be recognised as the minor premiers.
In recent weeks, all parties had been in discussions about potential grand final outcomes, however none were able to be achieved due to the lockdown.
Both the Cats and the Magpies wrote to the AFL confirming they could not field a VFLW team because of the significant time since their last game and because of the need to begin preparations for the AFLW season.
Geelong played its preliminary final on July 31, while Collingwood has not played since July 10.
Cats' VFLW captain Michelle Fedele told the Geelong Cats website while her, and the side were disappointed they wouldn't be playing in a grand final, she was still appreciative of the season.
"In our very first game this season, ironically against Collingwood, I said how privileged we were to be able to play the game we love, through everything that happened in 2020 and the uncertainty heading into 2021," Fedele said.
"Nothing is different, except the fact that we were able to continue playing for the most part, and I'm entirely grateful for that.
"We've had the opportunity to bond together over wins and losses, strengthen through challenging times, and now we have the opportunity to use this disappointment to drive us for what we want next year.
"I'm so proud of the playing group, coaches, staff and supporters of what we've been able to achieve this year despite the end result."
Clarke finished second on the VFLW goalkicking charts with 19 majors from 14 games, while Caris played nine games and featured in the Cats' best on multiple occasions.
Horsham product Sophie Alexander who played in the 2021 AFLW preliminary final for Collingwood, featured in three games in 2021 for the VFLW Pies, but didn't play again after May 8.
