Some trainers take the route to get to Horsham and are "already caught up in traffic" according to HGRC president Justin Brilliant.
Race one was originally slated to begin at 3:21pm.
"We've got a fair scope to change our start times," Brilliant said.
"At the moment we're back about an hour on our race one so that should give everyone a decent chance and if we still need more time we can go again.
"It may not be quite that long (an hour) though.
"We expect it to run, but just later than normal."
As for the greyhound's who might need to spend a little longer in the car Brilliant said "they won't have any problems".
The trainers have got to stop every couple of hours to give them their required walk and an empty out and whatever else," he said.
"They'll just follow normal protocols and the dogs will be fine."
