Horsham College captains Zac Koenig and Bella Panozzo are excited to see their peers prioritised by the Victorian Government in the vaccination roll-out.
In August, the State government mandate pushed year 12 students to the top of the waiting lists in an effort to vaccinate all students before end-of-year exams commence.
The priority vaccination program ran from Tuesday, September, until Friday, September 17.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Both captains received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine this week.
Zac said it was a great move, especially with exams coming in mid-October for year 12 students.
"Students are one of the most important groups to get vaccinated after the elderly," he said.
"Just because they are together so much of the time and there is little opportunity for social distancing in a classroom environment."
Bella said most of her friends have been able to get in for a vaccination appointment thanks to the dedicated hotline for year 12 students.
"It's good we've been recognised as needing an extra bit of a safety blanket, especially if it means we can get back to normal life a bit sooner," she said.
"It makes us feel important and valued instead of pushed aside. We've had no school, no this or that. This makes us feel a bit more considered now."
Bella said a majority of her year level had had their first dose.
"Everyone seems to be on their way to get the second one," she said.
