But there's a catch.
The announcement is based on the belief that the Commonwealth government will relax border restrictions in time for Victorians to fly to London, Los Angeles or Singapore.
Currently, regional Victorians can't enter the state's capital without the fear of isolation for 14 days. I'm not sure how a holiday to LA would look if you can't leave the hotel for two weeks.
While I am about the join the double dose club, I don't think I'll be heading to England (7.34 million cases), the United States (41.8 million cases) or the city-state of Singapore (74,848 cases) any time soon.
Especially when I have so much to discover in my backyard: the Wimmera.
While my actual backyard is smaller than the Pentbridge recreation yard, there are plenty of things to check out this weekend.
With no travel restrictions (outside of Ballarat, Melbourne and maybe Geelong), residents can jump in the car and explore.
As a teenager growing up in Portland, I would often scoff at the idea of visiting a local tourist hotspot. Whales? Ah, I see them every day. It was only after travelling around with new residents did I learn to appreciate what was around me.
That's why I use my free time to learn about my new home.
Ever been to the Murtoa stick shed? Relaxed a winery in Lower Norton?
Checked out the new silo art? Did you actually see the original works that put the region on the map?
All of it is at your disposal.
Make a day of it and support our cafes by grabbing a coffee and some breakfast.
You could go to Bunnings again and talk about nothing for an hour, or you could do something different.
You might even enjoy it.
