Horsham library is just one of many Victorian libraries to benefit from the $47.4 million Public Libraries Funding Program.

Almost $200,000 will be used over 2021-2022 to invest in library items, information technology resources, children and outreach programs, and other library services.

Wimmera Regional Library Corporation chief officer Ann Twyford said the funding increase mirrors the need for more technological-based resources.

"We receive this funding every year and it goes into library resources such as books and eresources, programs and events and technology, the funding is spent over the financial year," she said.

"Last year we were able to increase our e-resources budget to ensure patrons had access to more e-books and e-audiobooks, especially during lockdown periods when we were closed to the public."

Member for Western Victoria, Jaala Pulford, was pleased to announce the increase in funding.

"Our libraries across Horsham Rural City are critical and have played a key role in helping people feel less lonely and isolated during the pandemic, it is important that they receive the resources to continue this great work," she said.
