This year there will be six teams: the Wimmera Roos (Dimboola and Nhill), Wimmera Mallee Belles (Donald, Birchip and Charlton), Horsham Hurricanes, Horsham Sixers, Stawell Strikers and the Murray Downs Diamonds (Swan Hill).
WGCL coordinator Tony Caccaviello is in the process of compiling the fixture and is looking forward to the season's commencement.
"Everything's going well," Caccaviello said.
"We're looking to have a similar structure to last year. We'll aim to play ten rounds for the year.
"Every team has got three or four extra players which is good because now we're in this situation where we have to make sure everyone gets a fair go. It's a good problem to have."
Similar to the 2020/21 season, the competition will field multiple representative teams this year.
"We'll look to field a couple of rep teams for the Western Victoria Girl's Cup which is a tournament held in January in Hamilton," Caccaviello said.
"We're looking at getting at least two and maybe three if we can get enough in the Under 18s age group. Under 14s and Under 16s definitely."
As the competition grows, Caccaviello does not doubt that the skill level of the players will follow suit.
"We've got a really talented crop of under 14s coming through and I think they'll start to really shine," he said.
