After the exits of Phil Gould and recruitment boss Peter O'Sullivan, Craig Hodges has been appointed as the new general manager of football.
Hodges was previously an assistant at the Warriors after filling similar roles at Brisbane and Gold Coast, while also serving as interim coach at the latter.
His appointment has opened the door for the club's greatest player in Jones to return as Nathan Brown's right-hand man.
An assistant to Stephen Kearney in 2020, Jones returned home to New Zealand at the end of that season and did not travel to Australia with the team in 2021.
But he will now fly to Queensland in the next week to join players at their temporary Redcliffe base as the Warriors bid to reach their second finals in nine years.
"Having Stacey back in the NRL coaching unit is exciting and I know Nathan Brown is looking forward to working with him," chief executive Cameron George said.
"Craig has extensive experience across all levels of rugby league from grass roots through to the NRL.
"He will oversee the football operations including NRL recruitment.
"It's great that we've been able to promote from within and we look forward to the positive contribution both Craig and Stacey will make to the club in their roles."
