On Sunday, November 28, The Dancers' Zone held their end of year showcase at the Maydale Pavilion.
It was a proud moment for principal instructor Lynne McKenzie who said it was a long year for the dancers.
"It was amazing," she said.
"The teachers and their students did an amazing job considering the heat.
"It was absolutely sensational."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Ms McKenzie said this year was full of stop starts which interrupted classes.
"It was tough," she said.
"The students missed almost a term of dancing and not every one could do zoom lessons."
Ms McKenzie said parents stepped up to help out doing the lessons but some people "ran out of steam."
"Sometimes it was just impossible," she said
"But with virtually missing a term of dancing, the students and teachers did an amazing job. They were really well rounded routines."
Ms McKenzie said the youngest were hit hardest with online lessons.
"It was a lot of the juniors who struggled with all the online classes," she said.
"The teenagers were able to do it themselves with their own devices."
Ms McKenzie said the dancers learned to appreciate having in person classes but also each other.
"We learnt to have fun while you can, enjoy your friends while you can," she said.
"And enjoy the lessons when they happen."
All the costumes were recycled as well to reduce costs to the families.
"Whatever costumes the dancers owned or what we had in storage, we used," she said.
"Costumer designer Leeanne Toporzisek did an amazing job and single handedly dressed every single student."
Ms McKenzie said they are looking forward to 2022 with fuller classes.
"Next year we're really looking forward to enrolments later in January," she said.
"We'll have some full classes and people will be able to enjoy the year."
