HINDMARSH has released the program for its Australia Day events across the shire and announced 2022's Australia Day ambassador.
Cultural diversity consulting firm Cultural Intelligence chief executive Wesa Chau is 2022's ambassador and will provide an address on the day alongside Deputy Mayor Brett Ireland and other community members.
Ms Chau is currently undertaking her PhD at Swinburne University to research political skills and how people develop them. She is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a qualified teacher.
Her first foray into heading initiatives was founding the Australian Federation of International Students in 2002 while a student herself. Since then she has served on many boards including Carers Victoria, Ethnic Communities' Council of Victoria and the Multicultural Business Ministerial Council.
On Wednesday 26 January 2022, the formal Australia Day program begins with meet and greets and a breakfast BBQ in Rainbow from 7:30am at the Rainbow Oasis, followed by another breakfast BBQ in Jeparit from 9:00am at Menzies Square, a morning tea from 10:30am in Dimboola at the rear of the Dimboola Library, and finally a lunchtime BBQ from 12:00pm in Nhill at Goldsworthy Park.
