I'm feeling holiday vibes for the first time in forever, but I'm not sure why. I suppose there are a few clues.

First under the microscope might be my "couldn't give a rats" attitude about the number of coronavirus cases, and my determination to never know.
Maybe I'll live to regret my apathy and ignorance on this subject, but I doubt it.
I'm also taking a vacation from encouraging my teenage daughters to get their summer homework done.
After the torment of the torrid early twenties, rather than knuckling down, I'm much keener to drop-off and pick-up at parties, and play hostess to enormous sleepovers at which nobody gets any sleep.
I do expect to regret this monumental mistake, but gee, it makes for a nice break.
Of course, the abovementioned lack of sleep feeds very nicely into my new favourite retreat pursuit of snoozing on the couch during the daytime, which is incredibly decadent and divine.
Also, in addition to our summer of family evenings journeying through Australian movies from my youth; The Big Steal, Malcolm and Cosi, I've soaked up some lovely documentaries during the daytime.
As a student of history with a passion for people, it looks like I'll never run out of fascinating information to absorb and enjoy.
Off screen, last week alone included the cloud nine experience of holding a brand-new beautiful baby girl, safely delivered by one of my dearest friends, within days of lunching to celebrate my mother-in-law's 88th Birthday!
Neither of these brilliant episodes comes along every day, they are clifftop moments for sure, almost like summiting. Sojourn sensations.
Notably, even though I still seem to be folding washing and vacuuming in a full-time capacity, I've done something pretty drastic in the kitchen.
No Sherlock needed because I'm taking a sabbatical from feeding everyone.
It might just have been that one last piece of constructive feedback about recipe selection that tipped me over the edge, helping me find clarity about my family members' ability to throw something together for themselves.
Don't worry, the fridge is full of food, even if the teenagers seem unable to find it!?
I'm sure I'll hit the kitchen again soon, with renewed vigour and creativity, and hopefully, with rave reviews after my time off.
